The Little Mermaid 2: Morgana is a 2000 animated film produced by DisneyToon Studios and released by Walt Disney Home Video. It is the sequel to the 1989 film The Little Mermaid and tells the story of Ariel's daughter, Melody, and her efforts to reunite her family and save the underwater kingdom from Morgana, Ursula's younger sister. The Plot

The film takes place twelve years after the events of the first film. Ariel and Eric have a daughter named Melody who is curious about the ocean and her family's past. However, Ariel forbids her from going near the water because of the danger it poses. Melody eventually discovers a locket that contains her mother's picture and becomes determined to find out more about her family's history.

She sneaks away from home and meets a friendly mermaid named Tip who takes her to Atlantica, where she meets her grandmother, Queen Athena. Queen Athena was killed by a pirate ship when Melody was just a baby, and her death is the reason why Ariel is so protective of her daughter. Melody learns about her family's past and becomes determined to reunite her parents and her grandfather, King Triton.

Meanwhile, Morgana is plotting to take over the ocean and is using her magic to control a giant sea monster named the Kraken. She offers Melody a deal ??? she will turn her into a mermaid in exchange for the trident that King Triton possesses. Melody agrees and steals the trident from her grandfather's palace, but Morgana betrays her and uses the trident to control the Kraken and attack Atlantica.

The Characters

The Little Mermaid 2: Morgana features a number of familiar characters from the first film, as well as some new ones. Ariel and Eric have a daughter named Melody, who is voiced by Tara Strong. Morgana, the film's primary antagonist, is voiced by Pat Carroll, who also voiced Ursula in the first film. Other returning characters include Sebastian, Flounder, and King Triton.

New characters include Tip, a friendly mermaid who helps Melody on her journey, and Undertow, a henchman of Morgana's who is a tiger shark. The film also features a number of songs, including "Down to the Sea," "Here on the Land and Sea," and "For a Moment."

The Reception
